Energy Saving Rebates and Programs

HOME ENERGY ASSESSMENTS

In partnership with BIUD, Energy New England (ENE) provides no-cost Home Energy Assessments for BIUD’s residential customers. Our highly trained and experienced Residential Energy Advisors will assess your home’s energy efficiency to identify heating, lighting, weatherization, and rebate opportunities that can save you money on your utility bills.

ENE’s Energy Advisor conducts an in-person or virtual walk-through of your home, inputting information into our energy-efficiency software to create a report for you that analyzes your home’s energy usage, identifies home improvement projects that can lower your energy costs, and links to BIUD’s rebates and incentives. WEATHERIZATION

The Block Island Utility District (BUID) is offering rebates for several weatherization measures – air sealing, duct sealing, pipe insulation, and exterior wall insulation. Only Block Island homeowners and businesses may apply. A Rhode Island certified contractor must perform the work and sign this application.

A home energy assessment is strongly recommended prior to applying for a BUID weatherization rebate. Sign up online or call Energy New England (ENE) at 888‐772‐4242 to schedule. Your assessment will provide a list of energy-saving recommendations.

See eligible services and rebate amounts here.

SMALL BUSINESS COMMERCIAL ASSESSMENT

BUID works with Energy New England (ENE) to offer no-cost, comprehensive energy assessments to all of its Small Business customers. As part of the business energy assessments, the energy assessor will install screw-in LED lightbulbs throughout the property. BIUD recognizes that many business environments have different lighting needs from residential customers, and screw-in LED Lightbulbs may not upgrade the entirety of the lighting for a given business, and therefore it is proposed that incentives for additional lighting measures be offered as well.

Upgraded fixtures, lighting controls, and lighting sensors (such as occupancy sensors) are eligible for a rebate at 75% of total cost. Email ENE at commercial@ene.org to schedule a Small Business Assessment.

HVAC & WATER HEATING EQUIPMENT

The Block Island Utility District (BUID) is offering rebates for energy efficient HVAC and hot water heating equipment. Only Block Island homeowners and businesses may apply. A Rhode Island certified contractor must install the system and sign this application. Only qualifying equipment models are eligible.
