Energy Saving Rebates and Programs

HOME ENERGY ASSESSMENTS

Energy New England (ENE) provides no-cost energy assessments to residential customers of its partnering utilities. ENE’s expert Residential Energy Advisors will assess your home to identify heating, lighting, and weatherization opportunities can lead to increased energy efficiency and save money on your utility bills. All participants receive a Home Energy Assessment report that describes potential home improvements, the return-on-investment ratio, and a summary of rebate programs. What can I expect during my Home Energy Assessment?

REBATE PROGRAMS: ELECTRIC ACCOUNT ELIGIBILITY & RESTRICTIONS
  1. Rebate program is for residential electric accounts only. Commercial accounts aren’t eligible to participate.
  2. Georgetown Municipal Light Department (GMLD) will determine your electric account’s eligibility to participate in the program.
  3. An active residential electric account with GMLD is required (6 months).
  4. Electric account must be in good standing for at least 6 months.
  5. Applicant must own the property linked to the account.
  6. Rebate item must be installed at account location.
  7. Resident must agree to allow GMLD to inspect the installation on premises.
  8. Rebate maximums reset on Jan. 1 each year.
  9. Rebate offer is subject to funding availability and can expire at any time.

ENERGY STAR® APPLIANCE REBATES

GMLD is pleased to offer rebates to customers purchasing ENERGY STAR-rated appliances. ENERGY STAR-rated products are significantly more energy-efficient than the average comparable model.

CORDLESS ELECTRIC YARD EQUIPMENT REBATES

ELECTRIC VEHICLE PROGRAMS: OFF-PEAK CHARGING & LEVEL 2 CHARGER

Sign up for this valuable EV rewards program open to Georgetown residents. Simply set your electric vehicle to charge between 10 p.m. – 12 p.m. (next day) and complete the enrollment process. You then earn a $10/month credit on your GMLD electric bill for Level 2 charging or a $5/month credit for Level I charging.

GMLD also offers a $300 rebate on new installed Smart (Wi-Fi Capable) Level 2 chargers. For eligibility and restrictions please see the GMLD website.

WEATHERIZATION: AIR SEALING & INSULATION

A home energy assessment is required prior to applying for a GMLD weatherization rebate. Sign up online or call Energy New England (ENE) at 888‐772‐4242 to schedule. Your assessment will provide a list of energy-saving recommendations.

Air Sealing: Caulking, weather stripping, gaskets, pipe & duct insulation 50% of total job cost; $500 maximum
Insulation: Whole attic, wall, rim joist, basement

  • Rebate maximum is $500, per year, per account.
  • Rebate can be any combination of air sealing & insulation.
  • Rebate will not exceed 50% of job cost.
  • Home energy assessment date must be within 5 years of the job date.
  • Work can be completed by a contractor or self-install. Self-installed labor costs aren’t eligible for rebate.
  • Rebate issued as a check.
  • Purchase date must be within the current calendar.
  • Application must be submitted to the portal or postmarked by 12/31 of the current calendar year.

AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMPS: DUCTED & DUCTLESS

A home energy assessment is strongly recommended prior to applying for a GMLD air source heat pump rebate. Sign up online or call Energy New England (ENE) at 888‐772‐4242 to schedule. Your assessment will provide a list of energy-saving recommendations.

  • 1 Ton = 12,000 BTU/hr. Item’s BTUs are measured at 95 degrees.
  • Purchase date must be within the current calendar.
  • ASHP applications must be submitted to the portal or postmarked by 1/15 of the following year.
  • Rebate issued as a check.
